pops sent me an email yesterday entitled “i got the car!” with a picture above. i asked him if it was an aston martin (it wasn’t) and why he chose that model, this was his response…

When I was a kid in Jr HS and HS, everyone was either a Mondo or a Colleg.  The mondo’s wore black leather jackets and drove hot rods. They were headed for tech school or the service. The colleg guys wore kakis and were suppose to be headed to college.  And they drove MGs, Austin Healy’s or Triumph Spitfires or TR6s.  The TR6 has a 6 cylinder where the others had 4. They sold them from 1969 to 1976.  They say it’s the last true British sports car made. The one I got is a 1976 one of the last ones sold in the US.  It has some issues but it’s a solid car.  Nice car, old technology, easy to work on and there’s a great network of owners who are interested in helping bring a car back to life.  I’m looking forward to working on it and more looking forward to driving it.  You’ll have to take it out when you’re home in August.

suffice to say, my dad’s a lot cooler than me.
